Judo Dojo
Kokushi Midwest Judo is a judo academy in Champaign, Illinois. Founded to create a local home for the sport, it honors the founder’s first dojo and teacher while serving the surrounding community and university.
Kokushi Midwest Judo's logo icon was initially conceptualized as a badge focusing on the visual of two people participating in judo grappling. I wanted to create the logo with a very seamless transition and grappling motion between two figures by using sweeping strokes. The badge lockup of the logo is also closed with a black belt at the bottom, symbolizing discipline, quality, and the values that the dojo looks to instill in its students.
